AI in Tennessee

Tennessee's AI Advisory Council, co-chaired by the Commissioner of Finance and Administration and the State Chief Information Officer, unanimously approved the state's first AI Action Plan on November 17, 2025. The plan rests on four pillars: AI pilots, data and compute readiness, workforce enablement, and safety and accountability, and the council will keep working through 2028. The University of Tennessee System began an online AI in Manufacturing Workforce Certificate cohort in October 2026, and the state's TNWorks TNTalent grants list AI infrastructure as a focus industry.
