AI in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico has no enacted AI law as of mid-2026: Senate Bill 68, which would create an AI Officer and AI Advisory Council within the Puerto Rico Innovation and Technology Service (PRITS), passed the Senate in April 2025 and remains pending in the House, among dozens of AI-related bills. The Puerto Rico Department of Education published a student AI-use guide in December 2025 built on its SENSE model and Microsoft Copilot for students 13 and older. In July 2026 the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez was reported to have secured a $9 million NSF EPSCoR E-CORE award for AI research infrastructure (RAIS-PR).
