AI in New Hampshire

New Hampshire's RSA 5-D, effective July 1, 2024, governs state agency use of artificial intelligence, prohibiting discriminatory classification, most real-time biometric surveillance and deceptive deepfakes, and requiring human review of irreversible AI decisions, AI disclosure, and annual compliance reporting by the Department of Information Technology. The New Hampshire Insurance Department issued a February 2024 bulletin requiring insurers to maintain written programs for responsible AI use. In K-12 education, the New Hampshire AI Education Collaborative, a coalition of districts and statewide education associations, published a PreK-12 Generative AI Framework in 2025.
