AI in Kentucky

Kentucky's 2025 Senate Bill 4 directed the Commonwealth Office of Technology to set policies for state-government AI and created an Artificial Intelligence Governance Committee. The resulting statute, KRS 42.731, requires a registry of generative and high-risk AI systems, public disclosure of AI use in decisions, risk management for high-risk systems, and annual reports to the legislature starting December 1, 2025. The Kentucky Department of Education supports districts with an AI Guidance Brief and educator AI training, and the Council on Postsecondary Education has convened a Task Force on AI, Higher Education, and the Workforce.
