AI in Indiana

Indiana adopted an enterprise State of Indiana Artificial Intelligence Policy in February 2024, administered by the Office of the Chief Data Officer at the Management Performance Hub; it follows the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and requires agencies to complete an AI Readiness Assessment before deploying AI tools. On April 28, 2026, Governor Mike Braun announced IN AI, a statewide initiative run by the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership to help employers, especially Main Street businesses, adopt practical, human-centered AI. The Indiana Department of Education offers AI guidance and educator professional development, and has published reports from its AI-Powered Platform Pilot Grant.
