AI in Illinois

The Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology's Artificial Intelligence Policy for state agencies took effect April 1, 2025, and the state's Generative AI and Natural Language Processing Task Force released its report in January 2025 with recommendations on workers, civil rights, deepfakes, privacy and sustainable AI. In June 2026 the Illinois State Board of Education issued statewide AI guidance for K-12 schools under Public Act 104-0399, without imposing classroom mandates. In April 2026 Governor JB Pritzker announced the renewal and expansion of the IBM-Illinois Discovery Accelerator Institute for AI and quantum research and training.
