AI in Connecticut

Connecticut's Office of Policy and Management issued Policy AI-01, the AI Responsible Use Framework, on February 1, 2024 under Public Act 23-16, requiring state agencies to submit AI uses for intake review, complete risk-tiered impact assessments and follow procurement and generative AI safeguards. Public Act 24-151 directed the State Department of Education to run an AI education tool pilot during the 2024-25 school year, provide educator professional development and develop a K-12 digital citizenship curriculum with the Commission for Educational Technology, which publishes AI guidance for schools. Charter Oak State College runs the Connecticut Online AI Academy, offering free Google AI courses to residents 18 and older.
